Last Saturday, trans actresses, models and performers came together for Drag For A Cause, a benefit for Transgender Law Center at the Oxford Inn in Los Angeles. The superstars donned flashy outfits, brought out intricate choreography and showed the attendees how to truly work a stage.
Lady Chablis — a fixture in the gay clubs of Georgia and South Carolina before finding stardom in the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and its film adaptation — has died at age 59, South Carolina’s Island Packet newspaper reports.
Chablis helped bring a touch of glamour to Columbia, S.C., and Savannah, Ga., performing her cabaret show at gay nightclubs there. Chablis opened Savannnah’s Club One in 1988 and would help define the image of Savannah as a sexy, modern city of the South.

A trans woman found murdered in an apartment in south central El Paso on Monday, August 9 has been identified as 36-year-old Latina trans woman Erykah Tijerina (warning for misgendering at link).
Columbus, Ohio police are investigating the death of 28-year-old Rae'Lynn Thomas, who was shot and killed by her mother’s ex-boyfriend, who lived with her family at the time, according to WBNS

Transgender Law Center and GSA Network, TRUTH is a national storytelling and movement-building campaign that aims to build a network of transgender and gender nonconforming young people changing narratives around gender by telling their own stories in their own ways.
The National TRans yoUTH (TRUTH) Council will help lead a youth movement for transgender justice by working with other transgender and gender nonconforming youth to share their stories, create media campaigns, and organize with TGNC folks on a national level. In recognition of the effort and work council members are expected to put in, a stipend will be included.
